Universal Time Adjustment Method for Various Watches
Unscrew the crown: First, rotate the crown counter-clockwise (towards 6 o’clock) until it pops out. The crown is now in the operable position.
Winding (optional): If the watch has stopped, rotate the crown clockwise (towards 12 o’clock) about 30-40 times from the pop-out position to power the watch.
Pull out to the time-setting position: Gently pull the crown out to its outermost position (usually the second stop). The seconds hand will stop moving, allowing for precise time setting (this function is called “stop seconds” or “hacking”).
Set the time and lock: Rotate the crown clockwise to adjust the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Afterward, push the crown back into its original position and rotate it clockwise to lock it. This is crucial for maintaining the Oyster case’s water resistance.
“When adjusting the time, the hands on the dial should rotate clockwise. Adjusting the time counter-clockwise can easily damage the movement, causing the watch to stop, which is the buyer’s fault.”
